Prospects and problems of using the quantum-size semiconductor heterostructures in optoelectronics

Abstract

Possibilities to use the quantum-size heterostructures for conversion of optical signals are investigated. In maintenance of the offered mechanism of conversion the nano-size semiconductor heterostructures were developed. Analytical expressions for rate and quality of conversion are received. Preliminary estimations show that quantum-size structures can be used for working out of optical converters, modulators, multiplexers.
