Abstract

A new technique is suggested to measure airspeed for aircraft. This technique is based on generation of two ltrasonic waves traveling towards each other and measuring of mechanical pressure within acoustic field. The mechanical pressure is transformed into electric signals by using piezoelectric effect. These signals specify time intervals for propagation of acoustic waves in defined directions. A value of the airspeed is computed using the measurement data obtained.
