Abstract
Survey of existing free fall simulators is presented as well as a market analysis of the area. A design problem for vertical-flow wind tunnel is formulated basing on cost-effectiveness and safety requirements. Some ways are proposed to solve this problem. The suggested technique can be used to develop subsonic vertical-flow wind tunnels. Some aspects are analyzed to shape working section of the tunnel, to choose and design the optimal axial fan, to match operating modes of the fan with electric motor characteristics. General arrangement and overall view is presented for the designed VT-1 MAI vertical-flow wind tunnel. Keywords:
