Abstract

This article discusses the current state of the regional jet aircraft world market in terms of the major players customer base regional analysis — «Embraer» and «Bombardier», as well as the prospects of domestic products in this class — SSJ- 100 aircraft.
The authors came to the following conclusions in their paper:
1. Within the framework of the global transformation processes of regional jet aircraft market, the analysis of market behavior of the «Embraer» and «Bombardier» companies in its geographical aspect in order to assess its impact on the prospects of advancing of the domestic products produced by JSC «UAC» to the regional markets is becoming particularly urgent.
2. The customer base of the aircraft manufacturers can serve as an object of the investigation, characterizing the market behavior of the «Embraer» and «Bombardier» companies, i.e. the structure of the companies purchasing the aircrafts manufactured by them as a defined organization system, formed on the basis of the action of the objective laws of the market.
The analysis of the client base of the airlines exploiting"Embraer" ERJ 170/175/190/195 and «Bombardier» CRJ 700/900/1000 airplanes shows the substantial difference ( about 1.5 times judging on the amount) between"Embraer" and «Bombardier » according to the degree of the country coverage of the global regional jet-aircraft market.
At the same time, the distribution of airlines exploiting «Embraer» and «Bombardier» aircrafts also has significant differences within their customer base between each of these aircraft manufacturers. Client bases of the airline operators of the ERJ 170/175/190/ 195 and CRJ 700/900/1000 aircrafts do not intersect and there is only one airline («Lufthansa Cityline»), which at the same time includes ERJ190, ERJ195 and CRJ700, CRJ900 in its aircraft fleet.
The main (key) customers of the «Bombardier» CRJ700/900/1000 aircraft are 9 airlines, which account for two-thirds of these aircrafts in the world. The aggregate share of the «Bombardier» aircrafts, held in U.S. and European airlines is about 88 % of the existing fleet of these aircraft, therefore the market prospects of the Canadian company are largely determined by the situation on the European and U.S domestic markets.
In relation to «Bombardier», «Embraer» has a more balanced market presence in regions of the world. The demand and situation on the domestic markets of such countries as Canada, Brazil, China, Great Britain, Germany, Australia and the countries of the Persian Gulf will play a significant role in the «Embraers» market prospects.
3. The study of the foreign manufacturers client base allows to offer «thinner» approaches to the positioning of the Russian SSJ- 100 aircraft on the world market, regarding it within its comparison with the market opportunities of competing products -«Embraer» ERJ 190/195 and «Bombardier» CRJ 900/1000 aircrafts. At the same time the study confirms the correctness of the strategy of the SSJ- 100 aircraft manufacturer CJSC" Sukhoi Civil Aircrafts" about the importance and prioritizing of the markets of Asian-Pacific regions and Indochina.
It is shown that the usage of the traditional approach is not absolutely correct as CRJ 900/1000 aircraft «a priori» are the competitors of SSJ- 100, moreover it is not true for a number of regional and country markets. This assumption allowed the consideration of a new price positioning of SSJ-100 in relation to the CRJ 900/1000 on the markets of countries, where this aircraft is not presented.
