Application of shape memory alloys in actuating units

Abstract

Active elements made of shape memory alloys appear as the base elements of multifunctional actuating units, which are used in aerospace technologies, also in a radiolocation and special power plants transforming heat power to electricity. The detailed classification of actuating units is given, where these units are sorted by their ways of use. Then there are some results about researching characteristics of active elements, about their criteria of computation and valuing. Also the basic requirements are given for the special properties of the alloy and the active elements based on them.
